The General Education Division lays the foundation for broad-based student learning.  The division strives to meet students at whatever point of readiness they are when admitted to Blackhawk Technical College. In some cases, students are prepared and ready to enroll immediately in general education classes.  In other instances, students may need additional instruction to reinforce skills necessary to achieve their academic goals.  

General Education courses help students develop core knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for personal and professional success. General Education courses in communication, social science, math and natural science are based on an applied, integrated curriculum and use classroom activities that reflect real-world work situations relevant to program areas while also preparing students to be lifelong learners.
